BRITTNEY MURPHY
LANDSCAPE DESIGNER
For Brittney Murphy, all roads have led to Mom’s Design Build. As a teen, Brittney worked in the office of her dad’s construction company, learning the ropes of the organizational side of the biz. With interests in garden design and horticulture, this Wisconsin native attended the University of Minnesota’s famed school of Landscape Architecture where she earned her undergrad degree. That led to an internship at Como Conservatory; then to a design job for a Milwaukee engineering firm. Brittney found her next opportunity a little farther east: Manhattan, New York. In the Big City, she designed small backyard gardens and terraces. (Central Park was already taken.)
So why Mom’s? Clearly, with Minnesota’s amazing natural landscape and lakes—and some deep family ties in these parts—this locale drew Brittney toward her destiny. And what better place to apply her talents and experiences in construction and design than at Mom’s Design Build? Project coordination? Check. Landscape Design? Check. Beautiful area near extended family and lots of water sports? Check. A brilliant move indeed! And to celebrate her newest adventure, Brittney jumped into a canoe and paddled 20 miles. Sounds like she’s finally found her “Rome.”
