Meet Jay, the landscape wizard at Mom’s Design Build! With a Master’s in Architecture from North Dakota State University, Jay’s been rocking the landscaping world since he was 14—starting from the ground up as a general laborer, climbing to foreman, and then taking the reins as a designer. At his last gig, he didn’t just design; he managed projects and crafted elements of custom builds like a pro.
Jay’s dream superpower? Teleportation—because who’s got time for travel when you can zap to where the action is? Though, he’ll admit, nothing beats a good old-fashioned road trip. If you ever find him on a deserted island, he’ll be the one surviving in style with a hatchet, a cast iron Dutch oven, and some trusty paracord.
In the past year and a half, Jay’s been on the move, living in four different states (ND, CA, OR, MN). When he’s not helping design landscapes, he’s laying down tracks—because yes, he records his own music. And back in college, he was dubbed the “brick monger” for his relentless patio-building skills. Jay’s all about creating spaces that rock, one brick at a time!
