Shoreline Terrace
Mound, MN
Completed 2026
Shoreline Terrace transforms an underused Lake Minnetonka lot into a true outdoor destination. Careful grading gives the pool an infinity-edge feel that seems to spill into the lake, while a long cedar pergola organizes lounging, dining, and a lakeside swing bed for effortless everyday use or large-scale entertaining. A sunken hot tub, arced firepit patio, and neutral natural palette tie the space together in classic Minnesota lake style. Behind the beauty, thoughtful engineering solved real challenges; privacy screening from a close neighbor, an elaborate drainage system, and a circular driveway built for hosting, proving form and function in perfect balance.
A steep grade change becomes an asset, with stepped paths, railings, and tiered retaining walls creating distinct destinations — including the firepit patio anchoring the upper and lower levels — softened by layered plantings and a layered lighting plan that carries the space into evening. Stone patios and walls and stained cedar pergolas keep the palette neutral, natural, and built to weather well. Every sightline draws toward the lake, with open sod beyond the pool preserving room for yard games without breaking the view. The symmetrical layout centers on a long pergola holding distinct zones like lounging, poolside dining, and a lakeside swing bed with 180-degree views, plus a sun-drenched lounger nook. The hot tub sits close to the house for easy winter use, sunk 18″ and wrapped in a wood surround for seating and storage. Out front, pervious pavers across the driveway, garage aprons, entry, and circle solve major drainage challenges via an underground system feeding a dry streambed, finished with a cobblestone border. Tiered Grey Wolf boulder walls manage the driveway slope, with uplit maples completing a stately evening arrival.
