Job Description

The Assistant Crew Lead plays a key leadership role in supporting the Crew Lead to deliver high-quality landscape installations safely, efficiently, and on schedule. This position helps oversee daily field operations, ensuring projects are completed to company standards while fostering a positive, productive team environment.

Reporting to the Crew Lead and Director of Operations, the Assistant Crew Lead serves as a working leader, actively participating in installations while guiding crew members, maintaining quality control, and ensuring clear communication between field staff and management.

Field Leadership & Team Support

• Assist the Crew Lead in supervising and motivating a landscape installation crew

• Lead by example through strong work ethic, professionalism, and adherence to company standards

• Provide hands-on training and mentorship to crew members

• Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and teamwork

Project Execution

• Assist with the implementation of landscape construction plans and specifications, including, but not limited to hardscape installations, softscape installations, and landscape architecture. 

• Operate and oversee the safe use of hand tools, power tools, and heavy equipment

Quality Control & Problem Solving

• Inspect ongoing work to ensure it meets design specifications, company standards, and client expectations

• Identify and address job-site challenges proactively

• Communicate any project changes, delays, or material needs to the Crew Lead and Director of Operations

• Enforce company safety policies and procedures

• Assist with daily reporting, time tracking, and documentation of completed work.

Job Requirements

Be honest, respectful, self-motivated, and organized

Demonstrate outstanding communication skills

Ability to proficiently operate various machinery

Pass DOT drug screening

Ability to read and interpret construction plans

Valid driver’s license and good driving record

Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in varying Minnesota weather conditions
