PRODUCTION MANAGER

Job Description

We are looking for a Landscape Production Manager to join the Mom’s Design Build team!

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this key leadership role within our growing custom design-build landscape firm is accountable for planning, coordinating, and administrating of construction and maintenance activities. 

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional who will direct, maintain and lead an efficient and productive team resulting in a quality product while overseeing operations within the company. The ideal candidate brings strong communication skills, exercises sound judgement and initiative, and helps bring beautiful spaces to life profitably. 

Essential Job Functions

  • Manage members of the production staff, including crew leads and crew members, and organize and oversee their schedules alongside equipment scheduling

  • Organize job installations to be completed on time and on budget, facilitating and ensuring development and implementation of organizational and team goals

  • Work closely with designers to review plans for implementation and facilitate project management with foremen, designers, and subcontractors

  • Maintain high client satisfaction by delivering completed projects on time, on budget, and with a commitment to excellence

  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, evaluate, and terminate team members, including establishing screening criteria and procedures, implementing training programs to ensure company policies and procedures are followed, training crew leads to company standards, and conducting performance evaluations alongside the Founder & Chief Operating Officer

  • Provide conflict resolution support to team members and fill in for crew lead as needed during sick time, vacation, or an open position

  • Provide technical assistance at job sites and complete work orders as needed

  • Complete reports and analyses of departmental operations as requested by the Chief Operating Officer

  • Advise on and refine contract drafting and job pricing, and create, implement, and coordinate job costing procedures

  • Run Mom’s Winter Snow Operations, including selling, dispatch, and managing all aspects of snow removal

  • Implement, revise, and coordinate the company safety program

  • Order and coordinate materials for installation jobs, manage inventory of job materials, and work with vendors to secure the best possible prices

  • Work closely with the shop manager to ensure equipment is ready and DOT-compliant on time

  • Perform other projects as deemed appropriate

Job Requirements

At least 5 years of landscape experience, including some supervisory experience, with demonstrated ability to supervise and train staff, including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments

Demonstrated working knowledge of the landscape industry, landscape design, and construction techniques, along with knowledge of relevant tools and equipment

Knowledge of budget preparation and control

Must obtain a Class A driver’s license within 30 days of hire

Organized and detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy

Ability to work indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, lift up to 50 lbs. to shoulder height, remain in a standing or sitting position for extended periods, and travel over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces

Maintain and display a positive attitude along with a proactive approach to customer service

Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools, including examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures

Employee development skills

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills

Experience working with computer applications

Knowledge Of:

Plant material, hardscapes, ancillary landscape products, equipment, and tools, along with materials, methods, and skills used in various landscaping practices common to the Midwest region

Logistics management, including ensuring materials and equipment are where they need to be and getting there appropriately

Ability to develop and implement creative revenue-generating plans, programs, and initiatives, supported by sound financial knowledge

Customer service principles

Human resources practices, including staff hiring procedures
