Hidden Lakeside Haven

Hidden Lakeside Haven is a Minneapolis-area lakeshore landscape transformation by Mom’s Design Build, designed for large, catered entertaining with less maintenance. We replaced a multi-level deck and unused gazebo with a single-level composite deck featuring AZEK trim, cable railing, and three seating areas that each capture the lake view at different times of day. A minimal-appliance outdoor kitchen maximizes serving space, while its stone masonry extends below into a gas fireplace patio.

A wraparound walkway connects the backyard to a new, widened concrete driveway for guest access. Privacy fencing and layered plantings screen the yard without blocking the lake, and bold foliage gardens in burgundy, chartreuse, silver, and orange showcase art and containers. Multi-zone low-voltage landscape lighting, including a lit address marker, illuminates every space. Working within lakeshore hardcover limits, we protected and highlighted the property’s old-growth oak trees and fine-tuned plantings for tricky sun, shade, and wet conditions throughout the three-year project.
