Spring is coming and it’s easy to start wondering about all the new plants we can grow. Table Mountain Ice Plant, a South African native frequently spotted along the roadsides in Malibu, has no problem with our harsh Minnesota winters.
“Table Mountain” is a fully hardy cultivar of Delosperma cooperi that covers the landscape in an expanding 2-inch mat of cuteness. This plant does not appreciate wet feet in winter so make sure not to mulch it or plant it in wet, heavy soils. A sloping, well drained scree is where this adorable ground cover will reside happiest. If you want a Mediterranean look, combine it with Stachys and lavender.
