Sedges are quickly gaining in popularity because of their rugged, durable gracefulness. Most consist of arching leaves which emerge from rhizomes in clumps. “Oehme” is a bit different. Bright green leaves emerge opposite on stems to 20″ creating a lovely bamboo-like effect. Though happiest in full sun, this native grass can tolerate about half shade without suffering noticeably. It can be useful in modernistic mass plantings or as a wispy companion to hostas in a partly shaded open woodland garden.
