I love to read. In my opinion, books are an intricate and sophisticated accessory for any room in the house. They offer in-depth stories and comfort, gorgeous color and are great conversation starters. A space is all about showcasing what we love, and what better way to do so than with books on display!
There are many ways to incorporate books in a space. Built-in shelving is a favorite of mine. But, coffee table books and valuable knick knacks also hold value. There are many ways to store them away and display them with pride, so we wanted to look at a few options for how best to use books, the way we enjoy them in our spaces, as an exquisite design feature.
Also, as the weather grows warmer, reading nooks don’t have to be inside your home. They can be outdoors, too! Mom’s Design Build put together a photo series of spaces (outdoors too) that are perfect for a good book. Psst…and I added a fun summer read with each space so you can get caught up on the written word with a little sunshine. Enjoy!

KICK-BACK POOLSIDE DAYBED

If you’re the type of person that likes to sprawl out and read, this is your place. A daybed is a gorgeous add into any landscape space and works for those who would rather take a nap in between. Add in a pergola to this mix and feel even more fancy.

BLISSFUL HANGING DAYBED

The poolside daybed with a twist! I love this incredibly casual, swinging vibe. It reminds me of an outdoor beach bungalow in the Hamptons.

A DEDICATED READING FANTASY NOOK

Does it get any cuter than a tiny treehouse to read? I don’t think so. A built in book nook in any porch or deck space also is a win in my book of “dream reading spots.” And please, don’t be easy on the pillows.

TUCSAN BUILT-IN WITH FIREPLACE

Cue the cozy! This is a perfect example of how you can bring the indoors outside. An entire living space has been transformed into a gorgeous counterpart to the deck area. A crackling fireplace, natural stone, and gorgeous pillar work tie the space together quite well. It was basically made for reading.

BALI INSPIRED DAYBED

Gasp-worthy! This bali inspired daybed might be my favorite (we have to save the best for last). The rich colors, the lighting, the landscaping – all of it makes for a magical moment.
