KITCHEN
Towel racks can hold more than towels. They’re great for hanging things like spatulas and measuring utensils. That way, you can free up some random space in drawers that usually get overly cluttered.Â
Open shelving for plates, teacups and mugs. Open shelving is the new black. For those fragile, appealing items that usually get shoved and forgotten about in the back of your cupboards – open shelving acts as a perfect way to display them. And, they’re easily accessible for guests that want a snack or some coffee.
Bring out the vintage and consider the unconventional! Freestanding storage units like old card catalogs, lockers or an old dresser can add a special twist to any kitchen. Think about how much added storage space that is!
Add a paper towel cubby! It can be a small opening right under your sink with a paper towel tube. Storing those things are pesky and this is a great solution.
Produce is another item that clutters counter space. Add a vented produce pull-out bin in place of a drawer for items that don’t need to be refrigerated.Â
If the pantry is a nightmare, shoe organizers are a great option to hang in the pantry to organize snacks!
LIVING SPACE / BASEMENT
If your kid has a play space in the basement, a great option for toy clean up is a dome jar for small toys.Â
If you need to add more seating space to your basement, a built-in sitting area will add space to the room and is awesome for more guests.
If you’re able, install drawers under your couch. If the frame is tall enough, this is a great option for added storage.
Built-in shelving is a beautiful storage solution. If built-ins aren’t an immediate option, there are easy ways to incorporate real bookshelves to look like built-ins. For one, they’re portable and reusable. Also, you can rearrange them at any time. To make them truly disappear, paint the bookshelves a wood finish that coordinates with your walls and split up the bookcase to accompany a sofa or television.
Moveable built-in shelves are even more interesting! These can block storage closets instead of doors and adds depth and personality to the space.Â
BATHROOM
Build your own storage compartments inside bathroom drawers (we all know those things can get CRAZY unorganized). All you need is a piece of wood and a few shallow bins.Â
Use the inside of cabinet doors for vertical storage! It’s easy to forget about those, but they’re a great extra storage option. Over the door, organizers can hold a variety of beauty products, like brushes and hair dryers.Â
Hang towels from hooks instead of towel bars. The towels dry better this way – and it takes up less space!
Aesthetically pleasing storage baskets are a great option for extra linens (so they don’t take up even more drawer space).Â
Don’t limit your shelves to walls. Use corner shelving! It’s a great place for plants to live.
Lidded glass canisters are awesome options for keeping Q-tips and cotton balls.
